Leading Global Provider to Showcase Tools for Blood Banking and Cellular Therapies

Reston, VA—ITL BioMedical, a global leader in the development of safe and efficient medical devices for biological sampling, will be exhibiting at the AABB 2024 Annual Meeting, from October 19-22 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. ITL BioMedical will showcase its latest innovations in Booth #830, emphasizing safer biological sampling tools and new solutions for blood donation.

In response to growing demands for enhanced lab safety and operational efficiency, ITL BioMedical will be demoing a range of trusted products designed to optimize blood sample collection while reducing risks for healthcare providers. Products on display will include:

  • SampLok Adapter Cap 3: This adapter cap facilitates safe blood sample collection into culture bottles and test tubes, featuring an integrated safety lid that provides needle injury protection by eliminating exposed needles.
  • SampLok Sampling Kits: A closed-system sample collection and transfer device that minimizes contamination and over-sampling risks while allowing accurate sampling across multiple bottles and tubes.
  • Adapter Cap with Female Luer: Designed to ensure secure blood transfer from syringe-based draws, the female luer cap improves safety and efficiency in syringe collections, commonly used in emergency departments and pediatric settings.
  • Adapter Cap with Male Luer Lock: Ideal for line draws and wing needle collection, this cap maintains sample integrity through multiple bottle inoculations, ensuring a secure connection for blood transfers.

In addition to ITL BioMedical’s product showcase, the company is partnering with Thimble to highlight how the Prepare and Recover patches can improve blood donation experiences by reducing tenderness and discomfort often associated with needle sticks. Thimble’s CEO will be available at the booth to discuss how these patches can help increase blood donation rates by enhancing donor comfort.

“We are committed to developing medical devices that not only improve lab and patient safety but also optimize the workflow for healthcare providers,” said Craig Wilson, CEO of ITL BioMedical. “Our presence at AABB 2024 demonstrates our ongoing dedication to delivering innovative solutions that address critical challenges in blood banking, microbiology, and cellular therapies.”

“This year, we are particularly excited to introduce our collaboration with Thimble, whose products are addressing pain management during blood donations—a crucial but often overlooked aspect of the process,” John Tonkinson, Ph.D., Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at ITL BioMedical. “Together, we are enhancing both healthcare provider safety and donor experiences.”

AABB attendees are encouraged to visit ITL BioMedical at Booth #830 for live demonstrations, product discussions, and to explore how these innovations can improve lab operations and blood donation processes. Visitors can also meet with ITL BioMedical representatives to learn about the broader impact of their products in cellular therapy and microbiology applications.
