Surgical procedures in the buccopharyngeal area can pose significant risks of tooth damage due to accidental contact with instruments. Bite guards were designed in collaboration with operating theater personnel and leading surgeons to address this problem. Manufactured from biocompatible silicone elastomer, these guards are latex and phthalate-free, ensuring patient safety and comfort. The inclusion of barium sulphate (BaSO4) aids visibility under X-ray, and the guards are coloured blue for easy identification. Intended for single use, they provide crucial protection against accidental damage to loose teeth, dental features, and oral tissues during anaesthesia induction, intubation, endoscopy, or other procedures involving oral access. These bite guards are designed for short-term use, up to 29 days, ensuring maximum protection during critical surgical and diagnostic procedures.
